Pre Primary Curriculum

Research shows that learning is an integrated process, and that theme-based education is beneficial in several ways.
Hence an integrated curriculum is an ideal way to teach young minds to learn naturally. Their experiences will be more meaningful and make connections to the big world we live in.
Hence our Curriculum is an amalgamation of all the best practices in Early Childhood Education. We tailor learning experiences to differentiate among the individual needs of children in the classroom, based on different learning styles: visual, auditory and kinaesthetic.

The key benefit of an integrated curriculum is the ability for children to see skills, multiple times. Teaching comprehension strategies in multiple disciplines can give children an opportunity to see and implement it more often. The reinforcement of skills being taught creates a higher level of understanding and retention of information.
An open environment in the school, young children not only excel in language and cognitive learning but also develop their physical, Socio-emotional skill by promoting independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving skills — the fundamental skills that help determine success in adult life.
To lay emphasis on physical activities in today’s sedentary, gadget dependent lifestyle we integrate Physical Exercises, Games, Yoga, and Get –Set –Go in our daily routine. Art and visual expression activities foster creativity in children.
The developmentally appropriate practises ensure that child is following his own learning curve. Each child’s uniqueness and individuality is valued and nurtured. Ultimately, the use of thematic units helps young children achieve higher levels of learning.

Primary & Secondary

THE SUBJECTS DESIGNED FOR THE STUDENTS INCLUDE LANGUAGES, SCIENCE, MATH, SOCIAL SCIENCES, SPORTS, DANCE, ART, MUSIC AND SPEECH AND DRAMA.

At the Secondary level, students do three languages – English, Hindi and Telugu.
When the students reach Grade 9, they continue with two languages only (as per CBSE requirements).
Presentations, debates, speeches, research based activities, creative writing are just some of the ways through which the classroom sessions take place.
One of the highlights of our academic year is the literary week which allows students to explore their own potential and identify themselves as budding authors and poets.
An interest in regional languages is instilled by assigning dedicated days such as Hindi Diwas. During such celebrations, the children exhibit their skills in these languages through a variety of activities, recitations, dramas etc.

Curriculum Overview

The curriculum reflects the vision and mission of our school, keeping in mind the needs of the students in the 21st century. The co-curricular activities are embedded within our curricular subjects allowing children to inculcate academic excellence and cultivate self-confidence, creativity, reflection and analytical thinking. A diverse range of activities and programmes help expand the learning experience.

Methodology

Good teaching methodology is more giving of right questions than a giving of right answer.
The process of learning is given importance rather than the outcome. We ignite child’s thought processes by giving objects to smell, touch, see, taste, explore (tactile).
Our activities are child-centred. Lot of child initiated activities are encouraged and lot of open ended activities sculptures, messy play, clay modelling and observational drawing, are given to children. This not only helps them to build confidence but also boost their esteem.
In synchrony to “one world one family “ we instil the sense of togetherness in our little minds, by celebrating national and regional festivals in traditional way and special days like Mud puddle day, Ozone Day, World Doctors Day. During project based events like Art Mela, Math Mela, and Science day children participate in small- and large-group activities. To imbibe team spirit and true sportsmanship every child participates in a very unique and extravagant Sports Day.

Teacher is a facilitator, leads to higher achievement, while promoting both team and class building. They learn actively by having hands-on experiences with their surroundings, and learning is supported through consistent daily routines and well-organized classrooms by inculcating activities, such as building blocks, puzzles, clay, and dramatic play.
Children acquire discipline, responsibility and independence, by adhering to classroom agreements, made in consensus with both teacher and students. In contrast to the traditional teaching of subjects in isolation, we believe in cross – curriculum teaching, that is integrating multiple subjects simultaneously. It helps students go much deeper in learning concepts and skills.
